NH Marijuana Legalization

A recent poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center returned results showing that a majority of New Hampshire voters support legalizing marijuana for adult use.

The poll shows 61-percent support recreational marijuana legalization. A further breakdown showed that 39-percent strongly support legalization, while 22-percent somewhat support it.

The detailed poll asked voters if they would support regulating marijuana like alcohol, and according to Marijuana Policy Project, 69-percent support taxing and regulating marijuana like alcohol. Only 26-percent oppose it. The other 4-percent are either neutral or undecided.

Additional poll results include:

  • 24-percent support of decriminalization
  • 24-percent support current marijuana laws
  • 3-percent undecided

The New Hampshire state legislature has stalled efforts to decriminalize or regulate marijuana like alcohol at the state level. Efforts are underway to help move the process along.  Marijuana Policy Project has a voter election guide available that helps New Hampshire residents understand where state lawmakers stand on marijuana policies.
